HLTAID001 Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. This qualification satisfies all requirements for first aid, anaphylaxis management and emergency asthma training.
Course Descriptor
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. This unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.
Course Delivery
Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education & Care Setting – 8 hour face to face.

Course Content
  • Recognise an emergency situation.
  • Identify, assess and minimise hazards.
  • Assess the casualty and recognise the need for first aid response.
  • Assess the situation and seek assistance form emergency response services.
  • Perform CPR
  • Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles.
  • Use available resources and equipment.
  • Operate first aid equipment.
  • Monitor a casualty’s condition and respond in accordance to first aid principles.
  • Accurately convey details of an incident.
  • Report details of an incident.
  • Complete relevant workplace documentation.
  • Report details of incidents involving babies and children to parents and/or caregivers.
  • Follow workplace procedures to report serious incidents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Recognise possible psychological impacts on self, other rescuers and children.
  • Talk with children about emotions and response to events.
  • Participate in post incident debrief.
